Beginning school year 2017-2018, Mr. Christian J. Bumatayo joins ERDA Tech as the Assistant for Academics. He is the successor of Mr. Ernesto R. Chua, Jr. who is currently on leave. Seconded by Xavier School San Juan, Mr. Bumatayo has been in the field of education ever since he graduated from the University of the Philippines in Diliman in 2001. At Xavier, he taught high school English for ten years, after which he became the chairperson of the department. He then moved on to the Campus Ministry before coming over to ERDA Tech.

Mr. Bumatayo is no stranger to ERDA Tech. In fact, during the early 2000s, he was part of the team of Xavier School students, faculty, and staff that regularly went to the said school to conduct tutorials of ERDAnians under the Para Kay Kiko program. Today, he comes full circle as he returns to ERDA Tech. Aside from supervising the academic subject teachers, he will also teach English for Academic and Professional Purposes (EAPP) to two grade 11 classes, St. Lorenzo Ruiz and St. Dominic Savio.

Very much a welcome addition to the ERDA Tech community, Mr. Bumatayo shall play a key role as the school becomes a stand-alone senior high school this school year. His extensive experience in education and formation, together with his wit, sense of humor, and compassionate heart will truly benefit his colleagues as well as the ERDAnians.

Maligayang pagdating sa ERDA Tech, Ginoong Bumatayo! You are indeed a man for others, a man on a mission.

The new students of Fr. Pierre Tritz Institute – ERDA Tech underwent an orientation and recollection on May 22 to 24, 2017 in order for them to know more about the culture and system of the school and to adjust more easily to their new environment. On hand to help them were selected old students who served as their peer guardian angels.

On the first day, the faculty and staff were introduced to the students. The various departments and offices also gave their respective presentations.

Mrs. Tracy Ann Rotarta, the prefect of discipline, guided the new students through the routines, policies, and procedures of the school in the morning of the second day. Moreover, the new students, together with their peer guardian angels, showcased their different talents in the afternoon.

Finally, the Campus Ministry led by Miss Jesselyn Buendia and Mr. Elmer Bueno facilitated the recollection on the third day which centered on looking back at their immediate past, cherishing the memories, and looking forward to a new chapter in their lives with the promise of new friendships and experiences.

Welcome to your new home, new ERDAnians!

Once Upon A Moonlight

As the afternoon slowly moved toward twilight, ERDAnians, looking their very best, arrived in school for a very special occasion, Socialization 2017 which was more fancifully called Clair de Lune. Zandra Loraine Quisao, a Grade 11 – Saint Lorenzo Ruiz student and a member of the Student Body Organization (SBO) which was in charge of the event, thought about using this French phrase which means “moonlight” to aptly capture the atmosphere of this milestone in the students’ lives.

The students, arranged according to grade level and section and walking in pairs, strode along the driveway and into the basketball court where the tables and chairs were set, and, before seating themselves, smiled as they were introduced to the faculty and staff.

After Zandra Quisao’s opening message to her schoolmates, everyone gathered at the Saint Ignatius Hall to watch the enthralling cotillion of selected students, which was followed by games, dinner, and dancing.

Jairhus Zarate of Grade 10 – Kapayapaan and Elijah Feliciano of Grade 11 – Saint won as King and Queen of the Night, respectively.

The young ladies and gentlemen of ERDA Tech enjoyed every moment and made the night last for as long as they could. That night will remain in their hearts. Once upon a moonlight, they were happy and carefree, thanks to the SBO and its moderator, the indefatigable and inspiring Mr. Mark Rivera.

Team-Building Activity on Cooperation

ERDAnians had much fun and learned a lot at the same time during their team-building activity on cooperation during the homeroom guidance period on February 20, 2017. In their respective venues on campus, the five classes, each divided into smaller groups, did their very best to transport a ball from one point to another and back using only the designated body parts and nothing else. It was indeed a test of wits, wills, and of course, cooperation.

Ang mga ERDAnian, Mapagmalasakit

ERDAnians showed the Pandacan community how much they care by conducting a barangay clean-up on January 24 (Grade 11 – Saint Dominic Savio), January 31 (Grade 11 – Saint Lorenzo Ruiz), and February 7 (Grade 11 – Saint Pedro Calungsod). These events are part of the school’s efforts to promote one of its thrusts for school year 2016-2017, social responsibility, the other one being personal responsibility. Moreover, this outreach program constitutes the experience which is the springboard for the recollection (reflection and processing) of the students.

In the coming school years, ERDA Tech aims to come up with more activities like this to strengthen in the students, as well as the faculty and the staff the sense of service to others as a way of giving back the many blessings the school community receives from its friends and benefactors.

Team-Building Activity on Determination

“Kung gusto, may paraan; kung ayaw, maraming dahilan,” as the Filipino saying goes. The ERDAnians demonstrated their will to succeed through the team-building activity focusing on the value of determination during the homeroom guidance period on October 17, 2016.

In groups of three at a time, the students did their very best to stack a number of cups using rubber bands. Excitement and laughter filled the air as the ERDAnians tried again and again, not giving up until the very end.

Indeed, activities like this aim to develop values like determination, one of the soft skills needed in this century, specially in the workplace for which the students are currently being prepared.

My “Ang Galing” Program Experience

ni Mujahid Abdurrazzaq M. Basiman, Mag-aaral ng Grade 11 – Saint Lorenzo Ruiz at Chairperson ng Student Body Organization (SBO), Larawan mula kay Bb. Marilyn Benedicto, Student Activities Program Coordinator, FPTI – ERDA Tech

Welcome, New Students!

As part of the enculturation to ERDA Tech, our SHS and G10 transferees are introduced for the first time to their “guardian angels” this school year herein represented by our student leaders.

This 3-day gathering aims to introduce to our new students the various school practices and standards they need to observe. The highlight of this event is a recollection on the last day.
