ERDAnians and their sponsors from Xavier School San Juan held their annual kumustahan on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Fr. Rafael Cortina Sports Center. Twenty-two grade 10 students and 37 grade 11 students are being sponsored by parents of Xaverians this school year.

Over a sumptuous dinner, the students and their sponsors spoke with each other, the ERDAnians updating their benefactors on their performance in school and the Xavier parents also sharing something about themselves.

Ceddie Domondon of Batch 15, Class of 2013 joined his fellow ERDAnians and gave a heartfelt testimony of his struggles and successes first as a high school student at  ERDA Tech and then later as a working student. He is currently a third-year Civil Engineering student at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM).

Erwin Lucio and Shane Steffanie Allera of Grade 11 – Saint Lorenzo Ruiz composed and read a poem in Filipino expressing the ERDAnians’ gratitude to their sponsors and their commitment to do their very best in their studies and be successful in the future.

To the great surprise and delight of the Xavier audience in the event, which included Xavier School and FPTI – ERDA Tech president, Fr. Aristotle Dy, SJ, the ERDAnians sang “The Moon Represents My Heart”, a Mandarin song by popular Chinese singer Teresa Teng. Despite the very limited time of the students to practice with the help of their Music teacher, Mr. Elmer Bueno, the students were able to perform well.

The ERDAnians gave their sponsors small wooden crosses made by the Machining students as a token of appreciation for the help they have been receiving. Likewise, the parents gave blue bags to the students and turned over to FPTI – ERDA Tech more than two million pesos from the earnings of their fund-raising activities such as the yearly Stallion Family Fun Run. Just recently, they gave industrial shoes to all the 182 students of the school.

The kumustahan session is a project of the Xavier School Parents’ Auxiliary (XSPA) handled this year by Mr. Wilson Sy, XSPA Chairman and Mr. Johnny Lu, XSPA Outreach Committee Chairman and the master of ceremonies for the event. Helping them from FPTI – ERDA Tech were Mr. Peter Marc Magsalin, Principal; Mrs. Margie Antonio, Business Office Head and Campus Operations Officer; Mrs. Rowena Dela Cruz, Sponsorship Program Coordinator; and Mrs. Tess Andres, Social Services Coordinator.
